“Playing arenas and ampitheatres doesn’t have to mean showing up and doing an end zone dance. What if it were alive and organic and I played new tunes that were constantly changing and growing up each night?” —

johncmayer

I’ve gotta say, if all you see of John Mayer are his tabloid exploits, you’re missing part of the picture.  He’s a phenomenal musician with some genuine insights.

Also: that last album mostly sucked and he’s a major douchebag.

Sun Hands Local Natives

KCRW has been blowing up this band Local Natives lately.  And rightfully so.  I played Sun Hands about 15 times this weekend on my trip to Santa Cruz.

I waited too long to buy tickets to The Troubadour show in June and now I’m trying to figure out if 45 bucks a ticket is a justifiable price of admission.

HBO's 'Treme' explained: 'Do You Know What it Means to Miss New Orleans?' → nola.com

The New Orleans newspaper, The Times-Picayune, is doing a weekly post to explain the NOLA specific references and nuances in Treme.

For example, “A second line is a neighborhood street parade. Typically, participants include a sponsoring social aid and pleasure club and brass band (the main line) and whoever else wants to participate (the second line).”
